Camera movements
Movements help change the audience's view without cutting - to assist the narrative. Helps enhance the story.
~ there are 5 types of camera movements;
• Pan shot: where the camera (on a tripod) is moved in a horizontal manner from a fixed position - sweeps around the scene.
• Tilt shot: The camera stays in a fixed position but rotates up/down in a vertical axis (involves tripod).
• Track shot: when the camera follows backwards, forward or moves along side the subject being recorded- camera follows the subject.
• Dolly shot: when the entire camera is moved forward or backwards, typically on some sort of track or motorised vehicle - dolly in or dolly out.
• Zoom shot: when the camera lens is used to move close or further from the subject.
∆ difference between Dolly shot & zoom shot: A zoom shot requires an adjustment in lens focal length while a dolly requires the actual physical movement of a camera.
