~ Helps derive information [i.e: dialogues]
~ Evokes emotional response/experience
~ Emphasises what's on the screen & is used to indicate tone/atmosphere.
~ Setting location --> time period
~ Building a sense of continuity [moving in & out/ bridging scenes]
~ Underpinning the theoretical buildup of a scene
